Aug. 19, 2009 --Come see the campus鈥 most internationally renowned collection about one of the world鈥檚 most significant modernist authors.
Nearly 20 scholars from seven different countries will gather to discuss the works and life of the Jewish-Austrian writer who fled his home during its Nazi occupation to the U.S., and later, Brazil.
In addition, a nearly three-month-long exhibit, 鈥淭he Life, Works and World of Stefan Zweig,鈥 will open Sept. 23, giving visitors an overview of Zweig鈥檚 life and the place he occupied within European Modernism.
Reed Library will proudly display items from its collection 鈥 the largest collection of Zweig archival materials in North America 鈥 which include manuscript drafts, personal items and correspondence between such other early 20th century artists as James Joyce, Joseph Roth and Virginia Woolf.
