The College Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Associate Professor David Rudge, will return to the King Concert Hall stage at SUNY Fredonia with its first concert of 2021-2022, featuring two Concerto Competition winners, on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m.

Matthew Gioia, a graduate student in Music Performance from Carriere, Miss., will play several movements of Stephen Dankner鈥檚 Concerto for EB Alto Saxophone. Yejin Lee, a junior Music Performance major from Seoul, South Korea, will play the first movement of Rachmaninov鈥檚 Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor.

Other works to be performed include Vaughan Williams鈥 Five Variants of 鈥淒ives and Lazarus鈥 based on an old English folk tune; the majestic Symphony No. 2 鈥淢ysterious Mountain鈥 by Alan Hovhaness, and the energetic 鈥淭hree Bavarian Dances鈥 of Edward Elgar, which brings the program to a close.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed.
