Full migration set for May 28

SUNY Fredonia will complete its transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 on May 28, part of a campus-wide effort to streamline digital tools, reduce costs, and improve integration across communication and collaboration platforms.

All Fredonia email, calendars, and files will be automatically migrated to the Microsoft suite, including Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 tools. Email addresses will remain unchanged. The university will continue to offer access to Google Workspace in allowing users time to verify their data and make any necessary adjustments.

The transition is designed to be as seamless as possible, with pre-staged data transfers already underway. Quick guides, training sessions, and one-on-one support are available to assist users with the change. ITS staff are encouraging the campus community to begin using Microsoft applications for all new work after the May 28, 2025, cutover.

While some differences between platforms may require adaptation — particularly with file formats and sharing permissions — the university’s IT team is working to ensure continued access and minimal disruption.
