School of Music Assistant Professor James Harrington of the Voice area recently traveled to Havana, Cuba, and New York City for performances and teaching.

Joined by Dr. Paulina Villarreal of the University of Memphis, Mr. Harrington鈥檚 teaching residency at ISA-Universidad de las Artes focused on American music and included lectures, private lessons, master classes, and a concert performed by Harrington and Villarreal. Harrington and Villarreal also assisted the voice faculty in selecting pedagogically appropriate opera scenes for their students. ISA-Universidad de las Artes is the only college-level music conservatory in Cuba.

On April 15, Harrington was slated to perform the role of J.P. Morgan in a workshop of a new Phil Kline opera, 鈥淭he Lives and Dreams of Nikola Tesla鈥 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The production starred internationally renowned countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo in the titular role and was a partnership between the Guggenheim鈥檚 Works and Process series and Experiments in Opera.
