Students who have already been accepted to or who plan to attend health professional schools will explore a variety of topics related to enrolling at these schools at a panel discussion in the Science Center鈥檚 Kelly Family Auditorium on Thursday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m.
The panel, hosted each spring semester by the Health Professions Advising Committee, will be offered in both in-person and virtually via Zoom. Panelists will provide valuable information to students planning to apply to health professional schools in the future.
Each student will briefly discuss one aspect of an experience, such as internships, interviews, volunteering or professional exams, and also respond to individual questions. online.
Participating students, their major, educational plans and the topic each will explore include:
- Kayla Purcell, a junior Medical Technology major from Webster; internship at UPMC Chautauqua. Patient contact experiences is her topic.
- Kaylee Martin, senior, Molecular Genetics, minor in Chemistry, from Barre, Vt.; Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. Application process is her topic.
- Emilee Stenson, senior, Molecular Genetics, minors in English and Chemistry, from Warsaw, N.Y.; National Institutes of Health post-baccalaureate program. Post-baccalaureate programs is her topic.
- Bradley Brown, senior, Biochemistry, with Biology emphasis, minor in Psychology, from Jamestown; SUNY Upstate Medical University. The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is his topic.
- Gabriella Dierna, senior, Biology, minors in Chemistry and Public Health, from Rochester, N.Y.; University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Interviews is her topic.
- Zachary Bogosian, senior, Biology, from Silver Creek; Ohio State University College of Optometry. Internships is his topic.
- Jacob Traverse, senior, Molecular Genetics, minors in Psychology and Chemistry, from Newfane; future medical school applicant. Patient care experiences is his topic.
The annual panel discussion provides valuable information and perspectives to interested students before they begin applying to professional schools.
