Fifteen SUNY Fredonia students participated in the Arts of Italy study abroad program based primarily in Florence, Italy.
Art, architecture and sculpture of Renaissance Italy were areas of study under the direction of Department of Visual Arts and New Media Associate Professor Tucker and Department of History Professor David Kinkela.
The Arts of Italy faculty-led program brings students together each year to explore the museums, churches and streets of Florence, following in the footsteps of Giotto, Dante, Donatello, Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
The study abroad program, held this year from May 19 to June 3, is sponsored by the Department of Visual Arts and New Media.
Highlights included a guided tour of the Uffizi Museum (the largest collection of Renaissance painting in the world), a special guest tour guide at the Bargello Museum (the largest collection of Renaissance sculpture in the world), and hiking and swimming in Cinque Terre.
Mr. Tucker, who began leading the Arts of Italy program in 2016, notes that having a faculty- led program in Italy has been a tremendous recruiting tool for Visual Arts and New Media.
Students who joined Dr. Kinkela and Tucker on this year’s program included Nia Anand, Jean Cestaro, Andrea Conner, Eli Conrad, Sarah Crouse, Jaivon Eggleston, Noah Freeland, Brittany Howe, Nastya Korsh, Maya Kulick, Vanessa Lotito, Kady Osborne, Olivia Schindler, Paige Smith and Caitlyn Sterner.
