Dr. Rebecca Thompson
Department of World Languages and Cultures Adjunct Lecturer Rebecca Thompson has had her first book-length translation, a poetry collection titled "Little Wet-Paint Girl," published.
The collection, originally titled "M茅tiss茅e," is by Qu茅b茅cois poet and psychiatrist Dr. Ouanessa Younsi. It focuses on identity, belonging and the dichotomy between presence and absence, and is inspired by Younsi's childhood as the mixed-race daughter of a Qu茅b茅cois mother and an Algerian father.
The translation is forthcoming from Athabasca University Press and has been called "a visionary memoir of self-discovery" by the University of Chicago Press.
