The ninth annual Jurgen P. Banse-Fay Production Management Internship Award at the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center has been presented to Colin Chauche, a senior BFA Lighting Design major at the 海角社区.
Mr. Chauche will serve his internship during the 2010-11 Lake Shore Savings Season. The recognition also carries a cash award of $1,100.
The internship was established in memory of Jurgen P. Banse-Fay, a member of the SUNY Fredonia Class of 1988 and Rockefeller Arts Center鈥檚 operations manager and technical director from 1991 to 1999. Mr. Banse-Fay died in 2001 at the age of 35.
The Jurgen P. Banse-Fay Production Management Internship is given annually to a junior or senior on Rockefeller Arts Center鈥檚 student technical staff who best exemplifies the work ethic, professionalism and friendly disposition displayed by Mr. Banse-Fay during his years at SUNY Fredonia. The award is made possible by Rockefeller Arts Center鈥檚 largest endowment, held and managed by the Fredonia College Foundation.

鈥淐olin鈥檚 easy going demeanor, coupled with his tireless work ethic, really exemplifies what the Jurgen P. Banse-Fay Production Management Internship Award is all about,鈥 Mr. Hadley said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a privilege to work with such a talented, goal-driven young theatre student. Colin is going to go far.鈥
Mr. Chauche is the assistant technical director and the light shop supervisor for Rockefeller Arts Center. During the 2009-10 season, he was the scenic and lighting designer for the Department of Theatre and Dance production of 鈥淓lectra鈥 and the lighting designer for 鈥淐harlotte鈥檚 Web.鈥
He is also the technical representative for the Performing Arts Company and the vice chair of Fredonia鈥檚 student chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology.
This past summer, Mr. Chauche served as the assistant designer at St. Norbert Music Theatre in Green Bay, Wis., and as an electrician at the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, N.Y.
