To support more and more students who are demanding nutritious, humane, and delicious vegan and vegetarian options at every meal on university campuses, peta2, the student organization linked to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is running a contest to select the 鈥淢ost Vegetarian-Friendly College鈥 in America.
Meanwhile, 30 colleges in the U.S. and 15 in Canada have been placed on the ballot, all chosen according to student nominations and the schools鈥 online dining-service information. Everyone is eligible to vote, and all voters are entered into a drawing for a $100 VISA gift card.
The entire list of campuses nominated this year can be seen on the drop-down list at the organization's online voting page, located here. Winners will be announced later in the month.
鈥淔redonia deserves an 鈥楢鈥 for meeting its students鈥 growing hunger for delicious vegan and vegetarian meals,鈥 says PETA College Campaign Coordinator Pulin Modi. 鈥淓very time students choose a vegetarian meal, they鈥檙e taking a bite out of cruelty to animals and helping to ensure their own good health at the same time.鈥
The selection of vegan food at Fredonia includes soy ravioli primavera, vegan chicken teriyaki over rice, and shepherd鈥檚 pie.
Other campuses on the list this year include the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and the University of Nebraska.
