Recently created works of art by 11 students from the 海角社区 will be on display in the art gallery at Rockefeller Arts Center beginning Nov. 30. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 in the gallery lobby. 听
The show, entitled 鈥淏ound,鈥 will feature the art of graduating seniors in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media. A variety of mediums will be represented including photography, painting, sculpture, performance installation, ceramics, graphic design and drawing.The exhibit will be on display until Thursday, Dec. 13. Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The artists include:
- Katherine Ayotte from Utica, who is pursuing a double major in drawing/painting and English. She will exhibit her charcoal drawings. Ms. Ayotte鈥檚 听influences and inspirations are her grandmother, who inspired her to want to be an artist since she was a child; her parents; Distinguished Professor Alberto Rey and Michael Long; and her best friend and her boyfriend for being willing models.听
- Emily Churco, a photography major from Tupper Lake, who uses the media of photography, craft, sculpture, pottery and painting. Her works include 鈥淜uilt,鈥 鈥淎lternate Icon,鈥 鈥淔abulous Football,鈥 鈥淟ifestyles of the rife and nameless,鈥 鈥淐onfide Concest,鈥 and 鈥淎mbition and Affliction.鈥 Her influences and inspirations include domesticity, Jeff Koons, Gregory Crewdson, outsider art, Mary Ellen Mark and pop culture.
- Mark Duggan, a sculpture major from Buffalo, who uses mixed media. His influences and inspirations include Ron Mueck鈥檚 technical mastery of the human body, Kiki Smith鈥檚 wax figures and Andrew Barton鈥檚 sculptures.
- Sheena Gilbert, a painting major from Elmira, who will display oil/watercolor paintings. Her works include 鈥淐hoking,鈥 鈥淣ightlights,鈥 鈥淥rson,鈥 鈥淢irror Nightmares鈥 and 鈥淓mbalming Identity.鈥
- Stephen Nguyen, a graphic design major from Campbell. His influences and inspirations include his parents, Khiem and Vicky Nguyen, and his family, friends and professors.
- Amanda Passero, a drawing and painting major from Williston Park, Long Island, who uses acrylic paint, wood panels, latex and similar materials. Her works include an untitled piece (acrylic painting on wood panel) and 鈥淪omnambulist Society鈥 (performance/installation series). She said her influences and inspirations come from her personal experiences and feelings about culture, subcultures and issues involving identity. Many authors and artists have also been major influences,听
including Marilyn Manson, Gustav Klimt, Camille Rose Garcia, Tim Burton, and Gris Grimly and Nine Inch Nails. - Benjamin Phillips, a painting and drawing major from Oneida, who will display oil paintings, bronze sculptures and ink/charcoal drawings. His influences and inspirations are mass media, art history, music, literature and nature.
- Amanda Rodriquez, a visual arts major with a painting concentration from Holtsville, who will display oil paintings. Her works include 鈥淓nd of an Affair,鈥 鈥淭he Untold Truth,鈥 鈥淗appy Dance in Her Underpants鈥 and 鈥淏ig Pimpin.鈥 Her influences include the world around her.
听The show will also include works by Ashley Bailey, Blake Barit and Laura Matern.
鈥淭he senior show is the culmination of hard work on the part of the artists and a final step in gaining their degrees from SUNY Fredonia,鈥 Art Gallery Administrator Tina Hastings said. 鈥淭he artists are excited about the opportunity to exhibit their work in the professional gallery space.鈥
