The Cathy and Jesse Marion Art Gallery at SUNY Fredonia is hosting the exhibition, 鈥淚nvertebrates & Architecture: Works by Julian Montague,鈥 through Wednesday, Nov. 14.
The gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Julian Montague is a photographer, designer and installation artist living and working in Buffalo. He earned a degree in Media Studies from Hampshire College.
He has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally. His solo exhibition in the Buffalo area have included 鈥淚nsect Drawings鈥 (2009) and 鈥淥ther Orders鈥 (2008) at the Albright-Knox Collector鈥檚 Gallery, 鈥淪ite Study: Scajaquada Creek鈥 (2006) at the Burchfield Penney Arts Center and 鈥淭he Stray Shopping Cart: An Illustrated System of Identification鈥 at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center.
鈥溾業nvertebrates & Architecture鈥 features work from Julian Montague鈥檚 ongoing project, 鈥淪econdary Occupants/Collected & Observed鈥,鈥 said Art Gallery Director Tina Hastings. 鈥淯sing a number of different mediums, Montague鈥檚 work explores the relationship between animals and the built environment. At the center of the project is an unnamed fictional author/investigator who appears to be obsessed with the way that animals occupy architectural structures.鈥
