Hyungsuk Kang of Sangju-si, South Korea, has been named the 2014 March Student of the Month by SUNY Fredonia Residence Life. Hyungsuk was nominated for this award by SUNY Fredonia ResNet Coordinator Tylor Cardone.
Kang is a declared Physics major. He is an active member of various campus clubs and organizations and is a founding member of the Korean International Student Society (KISS). He is the current secretary of the Physics and Engineering Club and has been a teaching assistant in the University Physics and College Physics Lab since 2012.
Kang is also a ResNet Student Technician where he has worked since 2012. He is also the Student Representative on the Information Technology Advisory Board (ITAB). This past fall Kang took on the additional responsibility as a physics tutor in the SUNY Fredonia Learning Center. As a student representative of ITAB, Kang contributes ideas as to how technology can progress at SUNY Fredonia.
Cardone noted, 鈥淗e is a very deserving candidate, always striving to be the best technician and he academically excels as a student.鈥 He said that when he assigns Kang a task, 鈥渉e completes the task quickly and efficiently,鈥 adding, 鈥淜ang is very helpful when assisting students in resolving their Internet problems.鈥
When asked what his favorite things are about Fredonia, Kang noted various opportunities for personal growth, the strong educational support and research experience that enriches his academic performance and achievement. He also added, 鈥渢he wonderful faculty, friendly staff and cozy residence life provide great circumstances for studying.鈥
The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
