New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the reappointment of former Fredonia mayor and entrepreneur Frank A. Pagano to the College Council at Fredonia. Mr. Pagano will continue to serve as chairman of the council.
鈥淚鈥檓 honored Governor Cuomo has chosen me to continue to lead the Fredonia College Council,鈥 said Pagano. 鈥淭his is a time of great challenges at Fredonia, but also a time of great opportunity if we make the right choices, and focus strategically on increasing student enrollment and improving the quality education our students receive.鈥
Mr. Pagano served as Fredonia mayor from 1995 to 2007, winning three consecutive elections in the process. In 2006, the Village of Fredonia was chosen by Buffalo Business First magazine as the 鈥淏est Community in Western New York.鈥 He also served a one-year term as the President of the New York State Conference of Mayors, during which he led an advocacy effort that resulted in a 20 percent increase in revenue sharing among local municipalities.
鈥淔rank Pagano has provided excellent leadership for the College Council, and I'm glad that he has been reappointed by Governor Cuomo,鈥 said Dr. Virginia Horvath, Fredonia鈥檚 president. 鈥淗e brings his knowledge of the community and state politics to the work of the council, paired with a genuine love of Fredonia students. He comes to campus frequently, eating in the dining halls, attending events, and asking students about their studies and their lives. His dedication is remarkable, and Fredonia is fortunate to have him as College Council Chair.鈥
