An exhibit featuring works by student artists has opened聽in the art gallery of Rockefeller Arts Center on May 2 with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m.聽聽Senior Show II highlights the best works from the graduating seniors in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media. The exhibit will be on display until May 8.聽 Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Artists taking part are:聽
- Stacy Pierro, a Media Arts major from Amherst, who works in the media of video and charcoal. She will display untitled works. Her influences/inspirations include Robert Rauchenburg, Chris Cunningham and the 鈥渨orld and the people who live in it.鈥澛
- Christine C. Borton, a Drawing and Painting major from Ontario, NY, who works in the media of charcoal and oils. She will display untitled works. Her influences/inspirations include life experiences, the human figure and dreams.聽聽聽
- Jesse Wayne House, an Illustration/Animation major from East Aurora, who uses watercolors, digital animation and traditional animation in his works. He will display untitled works. His influences/inspirations include life experiences, music and dreams.聽聽
- Rachel Marsh, an Illustration major from Clifton Park, who use of colored pencil, ink and watercolor. She will display untitled works. Her influences/inspirations include graphic novels and cartoons, various books, fairy tales, movies and feminist and gender theory.聽聽
- Molly Murphy, a Photography major from Amherst, who works in the media of digital photography. She will display untitled works from a series she said was inspired by a semester abroad and the many places she traveled to and experienced.聽聽聽
- David McCormick, a Photography major from Fredonia, who works in the media of digital photography and also creates wood sculpture. He will display works from his Reliability Series, including 鈥淭he Creation of Rhythm鈥 鈥淢emories鈥 鈥淎 Colorful Melody鈥 鈥淩esonance鈥 鈥淣o strings Attached鈥 鈥淚mperfect Fifths鈥 鈥淎coustically Unsound鈥 鈥淥ff-beat conversations鈥 and 鈥淪igns of Life.鈥 His influences/inspirations include Ansel Adams and memories of music.聽聽聽
- Dylan Paolirell, a Photography major from Senora Falls, who works in the media of photography. He will display untitled works. His influences/inspirations include Edward Abbey, Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Ansel Adams, Henry David Thoreau.聽聽
- Joshua Kopstein, a Media Arts major from Franklin Square, who works with video and interactive media. He will display works including 鈥淓ight鈥 and 鈥淯ntitled.鈥 His influences/inspirations include Cory Arcangel, Tristan Tzara and Chris Cunningham.聽聽
- Trish Halpin, a Photography major from Baldwin, who uses the media of photography and books. She will display a work entitled 鈥淰intageeclectic.鈥 Her influences/inspirations include Jim Henson, Rolling Stone Magazine, Nan Goldin, Annie Leibowitz, Andy Warhol and Matisse.
