SUNY Fredonia鈥檚 2013 Convocation series, "Raising Cultural Awareness and Building Global Relations," continues to celebrate diversity this semester through a Folk Song Festival, designed to blend music, history and culture together to promote cultural awareness and explore multiculturalism within the community.
The festival will take place聽Monday, Oct. 7, at聽7 p.m., in the Williams Center's Multipurpose Room.
A collaboration between Fredonia鈥檚 School of Music and International Education Center, this unique celebration will open with a welcome address by Mary Sasso, director of International Education. Music performances will include Fredonia鈥檚 Latin Jazz Ensemble featuring guest percussionist Wendell Rivera, and the Zion Choir from the First United Presbyterian Church in Dunkirk. The event will also feature a performance from Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do Family Martial Arts Center of Buffalo.
The event will conclude with international students from various countries leading a light reception while draped in their own traditional dress.
