Approval of Agenda Hearing no objections, the agenda for September 30th was approved. Approval of Minutes from Sept. 23rd, 2011 Hearing no objections, the minutes for September 23rd were approved. Announcements Chair announced that the GenEd revision task force has been selected. While the campus has yet to be informed, letters were sent this morning to the successful candidates. Nobody from the School of Business applied to the task force. Eight people were selected and Jan McVicker will chair. They are charged with providing a proposal for GenEd revision to the Senate by February 2012. There is still no word about Fredonias new GenEd vision statement and who will develop this. Chair announced that there were limitations to the selection of sandwiches available for the once-a-month catered lunches. Committee agreed to select chicken salad and hummus as sandwich options. Chair reminded committee that there was no meeting next week on account of Fall Break. The main agenda item for the next meeting two weeks from now will be reviewing the courses submitted for approval for the Oral Communication category. Update on 2011-2012 General Education category assessments Chair announced that she has met with all four liaisons who have volunteered for this cycles assessment subcommittees. Liaisons agreed that they would form the subcommittees (to the best of their abilities) by the next GenEd meeting two weeks from today. Continued review of documents related to assessment policies and procedures for General Education Chair discussed with committee ways to improve and revise the policies and procedures manual. With regards to point #3 in the manual, it was agreed that, while assessment subcommittees would first consult with previous assessment reports before engaging with the current assessment, it was recommended to change the way assessment has been conducted. Instructions for this would be incorporated into point #4. Proffitt remarked that previous assessment reports need to be placed in one spot on the GenEd website (vs. ANGEL) to facilitate access. Committee also agreed that hard copies of final reports were no longer necessary with regards to distribution. It was recommended to change the time commitment of subcommittee members from two years to three semesters (i.e. Spring/Fall/Spring). Committee agreed that final reports must be distributed to all relevant faculty in order to close the loop. The issue was raised about how the GenEd Committee should follow up regarding the final reports that were distributed to faculty: how do we note whether improvements, as recommended by the assessment final reports, are being acknowledged? Committee agreed that departmental chairs should note feedback regarding assessment in a report (i.e. annual reports by Arts & Sciences). These (annual) reports need to be reviewed by the GenEd Committee in time for the next cycle. Committee agreed that there should not be open forums in the spring inviting faculty and students to discuss ways to improve and revise GenEd assessment due to apathy; instead, this process can be more efficiently handled through other methods, such as at the Senate. Chair concluded the discussion on the policies and procedures issue by stating she will edit and revise it for future examination. Adjourn Committee adjourned at 12:50pm. +?AT_`ah 9 L ~ 5 7 A K i 4 W _ r t x : ; F b k m ܩܡh]Gh1HhXhihEZ>hJhF5hFhFH*h2hF5 hF5H* h]!hF hFH*hB,hF5h]hF>*hFhCRwhF5hFhF5H* hF5h hF57+T`a 8 9 L & FgdigdX & FgdX & FgdF^gdF & FgdF & FgdFgdF$a$gdFm p # K WZEK# %19?F`g ]^_P^frs}FHNW`hehP shhZVKhqnhqfZh',hdhPr8hihi5hRhXh*hiM E_56>^ & Fgd & Fgdgdqz & Fgd & Fgdi & FgdigdPr8 & Fgdi >LNc456=>^hhqz5hh5hthqzh hehs>Vhh 21h:pzw/ =!"#$% b 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~PJ_HmH nH sH tH @`@ zwNormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRiR 0 Table Normal4 l4a (k ( 0No List @@@ X List Paragraph ^m$PK![Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢Iw},-j4 wP-t#bΙ{UTU^hd}㨫)*1P' ^W0)T9<l#$yi};~@(Hu* Dנz/0ǰ $ X3aZ,D0j~3߶b~i>3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!0C)theme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
