The fall Arts and Sciences Brown Bag Series, 鈥淎merica: 10 Years Later,鈥 continues on Nov. 2 with a program on 鈥淎merica: The Cost of Conflict,鈥 in conjunction with SUNY Fredonia鈥檚 2011-12 Convocation theme, 鈥淩isk.鈥
Tracy Marafiote, Ph.D., will moderate the panel and speak on fearing the 鈥渙ther.鈥澨齇ther panelists include Suthakaran Veerasamy, Ph.D., who will present on cultural encapsulation; Erica Snow, Ph.D., who will speak on body scan technology and travel stress; and, Cindy Bird, Ph.D., who will examine how conflict affects children.
The panel discussion will take place between noon and 12:50 p.m. in the Horizon Room in the lower level of the Williams Center.听
The Brown Bag Series offers monthly informal talks featuring new creative and scholarly work by SUNY Fredonia faculty members.听Each 30-minute presentation is followed by a brief discussion and refreshments. The fall series concludes on Dec. 7 with 鈥淎re We There Yet?: The Pursuit of Happiness and the American Dream,鈥 co-sponsored by the Fredonia Philosophical Society.
All lectures are free and open to all campus and community members.听Classes are welcome.听This year鈥檚 series is directed by Teodora Cox, mathematical sciences; Jack Croxton, psychology; Laura Johnson, communication; and, Theodore Lee, biology.听
